Refuge in Song:
Join Us for a Special Screening of The Choral
"The best response to the chaos of war is to make beautiful music together."
At Cantata Singers, we believe that music is more than just performance. It is a light found in the growing darkness and a refuge for the soul. It is a collective sound that brings a community together, nourishing the human spirit when it is needed most.
We invite you to a special, FREE community event that celebrates this enduring power of choral music: a screening of the 2025 British historical drama, The Choral.
About the Film
Set in 1916 against the backdrop of World War I, The Choral follows Dr. Henry Guthrie (played by Ralph Fiennes) as he takes over a British choral society that has lost most of its men to the front lines.
In a world defined by challenge and uncertainty, the choir recruits a group of ambitious teenagers to perform Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius. Much like our own Classroom Cantatas program, where we pass the passion for excellence to the next generation, this film beautifully illustrates how the arts act as essential sustenance for the spirit.
