Handel’s Messiah
Noah Horn, Music Director
Experience the enduring power of Handel’s Messiah, one of the most beloved and iconic works in Western music. Composed in a flurry of inspiration over just 24 days, Messiah channels the drama and emotion of the biblical narrative through radiant choruses, soaring solos, and stirring orchestration.
From the awe-struck beauty of “For unto us a child is born” to the triumphant majesty of the “Hallelujah” chorus, this oratorio has captivated audiences for nearly three centuries. Originally premiered as a benefit concert to help those in debtors’ prison, Messiah has always been tied to themes of hope, redemption, and collective uplift.
Join Cantata Singers for an inspiring evening of music that celebrates resilience, joy, and the human spirit.
What’s Interesting About This Concert
A Monumental Feat of Music-Making: Handel’s Messiah is not just a masterpiece—it’s a marathon of musical expression. Composed in just 24 days, it spans over two hours of music filled with emotional depth, vocal virtuosity, and dramatic storytelling. Hearing it live, with full chorus and orchestra, is nothing short of electrifying.
The Power of Scale: Performed in a grand hall with the full forces of Cantata Singers, this Messiah promises a sound experience as thrilling as the music itself. From hushed beginnings to the spine-tingling “Hallelujah” chorus, the scale of this performance amplifies the emotional and spiritual impact of the work.
A Tradition That Lives On: For nearly 300 years, Messiah has been a cornerstone of the choral tradition. But every performance is new—shaped by the performers and the moment.
