Majie Zeller, mezzo-soprano
Mezzo-soprano Majie Zeller has performed throughout the United States as a soloist in opera and oratorio, as well as contemporary and chamber music. She has received critical praise for her "opulent tone" and "warmth of expression." Now in her 19th season with Cantata Singers, she has been a soloist in the Bach St. Matthew Passion and B minor Mass, Schumann’s Faust, Mozart Requiem and many cantatas, and appeared as Mother Goose in The Rake’s Progress and Mrs. Noye in Noye’s Fludde. She can be heard on Cantata Singers’ recording of John Harbison’s Four Psalms on New World. Her operatic appearances include roles in Nixon in China, Candide and Ainadamar with Opera Boston, as well as Madama Butterfly, Akhnaten, and Resurrection with Boston Lyric Opera. She has also appeared with Emmanuel Music, Boston Classical Orchestra, Granite State Opera, Monadnock Music, Michigan Opera Theater, and many other ensembles. Other opera roles include the title role in La Cenerentola, Rossina in The Barber of Seville, and Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte.
