Chamber Series Director Allison Voth leads Cantata Singers’ members in a program featuring music by Nazi-labeled “degenerate” composers Arnold Schoenberg, Berthold Goldschmidt, Paul Hindemith, and others. Ostracized by the Nazi Regime, this program features composers that were targeted in campaigns against “Entartete Musik,” or degenerate music, that was considered to be “un-German, Jewish, or Communist” in nature. While linked together by these shared historical events, each composer responded to these events with the uniquely different musical styles represented on this program.

Mark Ludwig, Executive Director of the Terezín Music Foundation and violist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, will give the pre-concert talk, free to all ticketholders, at 6:30pm.
Following the performance, all are welcome at a free post-concert reception.
